Security & Trust

Last updated: September 8, 2026

FindYouJobs helps students and job seekers build their careers, and gives career centers a live view of their progress. Protecting that data is central to how we build. This page summarizes how we handle security and privacy. For the full terms, see our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Subprocessors.

Where your data lives

The FindYouJobs platform runs on United States infrastructure. Our application is hosted on Vercel, and account and career data is stored in Supabase (a managed PostgreSQL database). Data is encrypted in transit using TLS, and our database provider encrypts data at rest.

Keeping each institution's data separate

Each institution's data is logically separated for operational purposes, and access to one institution's data is not exposed to another institution's users or administrators. We do not use one institution's underlying career data or records to train machine-learning models on another institution's behalf. Aggregated or de-identified analytics that cannot be traced back to a specific institution or individual may be used to improve the Services generally. Every request to our systems is scoped to the institution it belongs to, so one customer's data is not exposed to another, and access to our database is tightly restricted. We do not sell or share personal data.

AI and your data

Our AI features are powered by the OpenAI API under a signed Data Processing Addendum, which currently provides that data submitted through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models. We monitor our vendor agreements and will update this page if that changes. The résumé and career text you provide is processed by OpenAI to generate your results. We do not ask you for Social Security numbers, government identifiers, or dates of birth, and you control what you include in your résumé. AI-generated outputs may contain errors and are meant to assist, not replace, human judgment.

Where our data comes from

FindYouJobs combines your career information with authoritative public data, not guesswork. Our labor-market and job insights draw on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET, Federal Reserve (FRED) economic data, and public job postings, alongside widely recognized résumé best practices. These sources are described further in our Privacy Policy.

How we protect data

Access control

Access to production systems and data is limited to what is necessary to operate the Services, and credentials are protected and rotated when needed.

Monitoring

We use error and performance monitoring to detect problems, with sensitive fields masked in diagnostic data and session replays.

Vetted providers

We build on infrastructure and service providers that maintain recognized security programs such as SOC 2.

Data minimization

We collect only what is needed to provide the Services, and you can provide as much or as little career information as you choose.

Verify our providers

We build on established infrastructure and service providers that maintain independent security certifications such as SOC 2. You can review each provider's security program directly:

  • Vercel Trust Center — application hosting
  • Supabase Trust Center — database, authentication, and storage
  • OpenAI Trust Portal — AI features
  • Twilio Trust Center — (SendGrid) transactional email
  • Sentry Security — error monitoring and session replay
  • PostHog Trust Center — product analytics and session replay

Student records and FERPA

For educational institutions, our processing of student education records is governed by a separate Data Processing Addendum in which FindYouJobs acts as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest, uses records only to provide the Services, and does not use student education records to train machine-learning models. The DPA includes FERPA-required restrictions on use and re-disclosure, security safeguards, and return or destruction of records on request.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your career data while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting info@findyoujobs.com. We will begin processing your deletion request promptly and complete deletion consistent with our standard deletion practices and the retention terms described in our DPA and Privacy Policy, subject to the limited legal-retention exceptions described therein.

Breach notification

If we confirm a security breach that compromises personal data, we will notify affected institutions and users without undue delay, and in any event within seventy-two (72) hours of confirming the breach, or sooner where a signed agreement or applicable law requires. The binding notification terms for each institution are set out in that institution's signed agreement and our Data Processing Addendum.

Security reviews and documentation. We are glad to support institutional security reviews, such as completing a security questionnaire or directing you to our infrastructure providers' trust portals, where their SOC 2 reports and other certifications are available (see 'Verify our providers' below). For a review that involves an on-site or formal audit, our Data Processing Addendum sets out the applicable process and notice requirements. Contact info@findyoujobs.com to get started. For our subprocessor list, Data Processing Addendum, or to discuss a specific requirement, contact info@findyoujobs.com.
